Zaha Hadid was born in Bagdad (Iraq), in the heart of a well-o  Arab family. She studied Mathematics at the American University of Beirut and gratuated from the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London, where she spent most of her life and opened her own architectural  rm.
Among the architecture projects built by Zaha Hadid around the world, we  nd the Vitra Fire Station, Weil am Rhein in Germany (1993); the Rosenthal Center for Contemporary Art in Cincinnati, Ohio; the sky jump in Bergisel (2002) and the funicular station (2008) both in Innsbruck (Austria); the Phaeno Science Centre in Wolfsburg, and the BMW Administration Centre in Leipzig, both in Germany (2005); the Guangzhou Opera House in China (2010); the Sheikh Zayed Bridge of Abu-Dhabi (2010); London Aquatics Centre and the Riverside Transport Museum of Glasgow, both in
England (2011) or the Port Authority Building in Antwerp (Belgium), opened in 2016, a couple of months a er she passed away.
In 2004 she had the honour to be the  rst woman to receive the Pritzker Prize. She had reviously been appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire for her contribution to architecture.
She also undertook high-profile projects, such
as the interior work of the Mind Zone at the Millennium Dome in London. Her contributions to fashion had a major repercussion, such as the Chanel catwalk scenography for the
Paris Fashion Week in 2011.
In Spain, she built three works: the Bridge Pavilion in Zaragoza (2008), the annex building of theViƱa Tondonia wineries in Haro, La Rioja (2006) and the Euskotren station in Durango, Vizcaya. www.zaha-hadid.com
