When we walk around Valencia, we can almost hear the heartbeat of its many centuries of history within its walls and under its pavement. From the remains of the Roman forum, found at the current Plaza de la Virgen, to the iconic City of Arts and Sciences, this city has been transformed while monuments that constitute a testimony of the past were discovered.
Valencia’s Cathedral is set on the same site where the first Roman temple was erected, which would be later substituted by a mosque.
The cathedral was built between 1262 and 1426, but subsequent refurbishments have left their mark in a particular combination of architectural styles that have overlapped with the initial gothic style. Its bell tower, also known as the Miguelete, is more than 50 metres high, and climbing the 270 steps that lead to the highest part is de nitely worth it, since it o ers a wonderful view of the city.
