Both feared and admired, sharks are one of the biggest and most unknown endangered predators. The American photographer Michael Muller decided to get closer to them in order to get to know them better. He has since worked with several organisations engaged to protect them such as WildAid and EarthEcho.
His impressive work is reflected in Sharks, a striking book published by Taschen. It is a limited edition of only 1.000 copies, signed by the photographer himself. In addition, a special print of 100 copies called Arty, that includes a photo

signed and numbered by the author, has been published. Another striking element of this book is its presentation inside a steel box in the shape of a cage, just as the ones used to watch sharks in the ocean.
Shark is the result of ten years of work by Muller. His initial goal was to capture the essence of this animal from a close and serious prespective.
To do it, he used the same techniques he uses with famous movie stars and music artists. Mission accomplished. anks to a ashing light element that he developed himself using NASA technology. Among his most impressive shots, we find a night image of a big white shark rising to the surface. Apart from this species, he shows many others in his book, such as the blacktip reef shark, the South African bull shark, or the giant hammerhead shark.
Muller relied on some experts such as Philippe Cousteau Jr. , marine biologist Alison Kock or writer Arty Nelson to carry out his project.
