The grandfather, Emilio Moro, grew up in the wine-making environment of his native town, Pesquera de Duero, in the Spanish province of Valladolid, where he taught his son, (also named Emilio Moro) everything about pressing grapes and the racking of wine. He also showed his children everything he knew about wine, so the third generation is currently running a winery of their own that spreads over 200 hectares of vineyards.
e philosophy of the Emilio Moro winery is based on the balance between alcohol, acidity, and structure to create a good wine. In order to extend this great enterprise in the wine sector, they relied on three fundamental pillars: tradition, innnovation, and social responsibility, three values that are part of the Moro family DNA.
e tradition based on the transmission of their own story and their dedication to wine goes along with a region in which unique, authentic wines are produced. ese wines are identi ed with their environment and show a unique spirituality. e best wines of the world are produced on the banks of big rivers, such as the Duero.
e climate and orography of this area has an e ect on vine growing, and thus in the nuances of the wine. e soils of the Denomination of Origin Ribera de Duero are mainly clay, sandy, stony and limestone, which provide wines with elegance, complexity, structure, personality, maturity, and sweetness. The technological innovation as a support for their production contributes to the
development of the Emilio Moro wines while o ering the highest quality in all of its products. Its human e ort is shown in the implementation of research programmes in cooperation with several universities. Some of their achievements are: virus-free plants, sensors that provide data on the evolution of the vines or the optimisation of the traceability of the work carried out in the vineyards via GPS systems. All this is done without giving up on the commitment made by the winery to society and also to the environment through the Emilio Moro Foundation, which promotes actions to fund humanitarian projects and protect the environment.
