A er building a reputation with its winery, located in Vilanova de Arousa, Sucesores de Benito Santos starts its adventure in the Monterrei denomination located in Orense, where the climate is almost Mediterranean and the slatey soils enable the production of elegant sun-ripened mencía wines. Obsessed by their native land and non-invasive agriculture, they produced wines that feature same qualities as the coastal wines: freshness, fruit, and a very pleasant taste with a touch that might be a synonym of longevity. is young red wine is ideally combined with a feira style octopus or a pasty.
Ronsel Do Sil
Arpegio 2014 (Ribeira Sacra)
On the banks of the Sil river, surrounded by vineyards located at dizzying heights that justify the name “heroic vine-growing”, María José Yravedra has made her dream come true. Winemaking was a tradition in her family, and she decided to restore an abandoned winery in the Ribeira Sacra, where she applies biodynamic farming methods to grow old local vines: white, caíño, merenzao, brancellao... is Arpegio is a blend of slatey mencía microplots, cultivated in the Valle de Bibei. It is fermented in concrete shells and matured in used 300 litre barrels so that the berry taste, and the smooth tannicity are preserved. It is the best option to accompany a pork shoulder with turnip tops or pork ribs.

Alberto Nanclares is an economist that le his job in a multinational company and moved to Cambados where he became a vine-grower. Shortly therea er he became one of the most interesting winemakers of the Valle del Salnés thanks to his excellent limited-production and environmentally friendly wines that extol his native land and the fruit itself. is Albariño is made the traditional way and stands out for its ne-tuned touch and pure varietal expression pura that combines perfectly with raw molluscs or grilled crustaceans.
Juan Manuel Bellver is a journalist who has been managing Lavinia España, a company dedicated to spreading the culture of wine and spirits, since 2014. The Madrid branch, with over 1,000m2 in the city’s “golden mile” has the largest wine selection in Spain, with over 4,000 di erent Spanish and International labels.
