A descendent of a dynasty of artists that started with his great-grandfather Habichuela el Viejo; his grandfather, Juan Carmona, and his father, the renowned guitarist Juan Habichuela. He learnt from them the vey essence of pure amenco, and he brought it to life along with his brother Juan José, and his cousin José Miguel, with whom he founded Ketama, one of the most renowned “ amenco fusión” groups. More than two decades later, they split up and decided to embark on a solo career. In 2006, Antonio Carmona presented his rst single, Vengo Venenoso, in which he collaborated with other artists such as Alejandro Sanz, Juanes or La Mala Rodríguez. In 2011, released his album De Noche, with the collaboration of artists such as Nelly Furtado or Concha Buika.
Now he is launching his third album, Obras son Amores, composed, sung, and produced by him.
e most remarkable song is Mencanta, a rumba that he sings jointly with his nephew Juan Carmona, dedicated to his father, Juan Habichuela. “It is a tribute to a father, a friend, and a genius.” He was an example to follow for both
amencos and non- amencos” he said. In this album, he has worked again with Alejandro Sanz, co-producer of Dame Luz, “a mystic chant. Alejandro is a wizard, an alchemist, he knows how to adapt the lyrics, he shapes the songs and gives them a meaning”, he added. Another tribute that we can nd in his work is the blues called El amor se fue, dedicated to Ray Heredia, one of the original founders of Ketama .
